February Update 1


February has been off to a busy start, so I'll keep this devlog short! Let's get right into it, shall we?

☐ Script

Over the weekend, I completed the script for Kanzen's Day 4.

I struggled quite a lot through this chapter, writing it over and over, changing the emotional reactions of the characters, the flow of the scenes, and the clues revealed during the events. The main conflict remained the same, but the chapter took me to a very different place from what I had initially envisioned.

Out of the main cast, Kanzen has been the most interesting character to write for so far. Every time I think I know everything about him, he proves me wrong by showing a new side, revealing a secret, and doing one more unexpected thing (if this all sounds a little insane to you, don't worry, I promise it's a writer's thing, we're all good).

And next up is Day 5 with the climax for Kanzen's route! I'm excited to finally get to this chapter. And also a little worried, because this is where everything goes pear-shaped °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

☐ Backgrounds

I've also started painting over the backgrounds I modeled last month. We spend a lot of time in some of the locations, so I think seeing them from different angles can help break up long scenes and create a sense of novelty and freshness without the need to move to a completely different setting.

☐ CGs

Moon's still hard at work on the art, and all the standard CGs for Hano's route have been sketched! There's still more to go on the other routes, but I'm looking forward to when they're painted to a point we can share them with you!

☐ Code

I spent most of the week updating the code, logging issues and testing out snippets. Compared to the demo, expect some major improvements to the interface in the game's final version.
