We’ve entered February, and it’s about time I stop accidentally typing 2021 and start getting the year right. This month is going to be all about Zanas.

Before we go further, we are running a poll on our Twitter to choose the colour of the cape he will be wearing in his alternative sprite:

☐ Script

I completed the first draft of Day 2 on Zan’s route. 

As an unbiased author, I shouldn’t be saying this, but … aren't I happy to be back writing Zan’s route (≧◡≦)

I’m aware that some love interests are more popular (or unpopular) than others, that’s the whole reason we have multiple routes in the first place, but I’ll never stop selling you Zanas. Of course, I pour my heart and soul into every route to give you the best story I possibly can, and I love all my characters equally … but some are loved more equally so hahaha  (¬‿¬ )

With Kanzen it’s a fun dynamic from the get-go, and it’s so satisfying to see Hano go through such major character development. But to me, Zanas and MC are the ones who develop the deepest relationship by the end of his route. As you slowly overcome his walls, understand the reasons he does the things he does and the way his pain shapes him, I am sure you will be able to see his beautiful sides too.

I’m really happy that the poll has brought out many Zan appreciators. Zan is underrated, and he deserves more love (have I mentioned I’m completely unbiased?)

☐ Sprites

As I mentioned in the previous log, we started working on the alternative outfits, starting from the formal clothes the cast will be wearing to the company dinner party on Day 4. It’s been a struggle, since these outfits have to be fancier than the regular ones, and Zanas as usual is supposed to be the fanciest of ‘em all.

I love the way Zan’s formal wear turned out, but our team went to war over the colour of the cape hahaha. We always go through multiple colour options for every sprite (Mune went through 7), but it’s the first time our team is so equally divided and can’t come to a decision. Which is why we decide to create a public poll and have the community decide! (I heard Moon exploded and even made their “once-a-year” appearance on Discord Σ(°△°|||) lol)

Setting controversies around Zanas aside, we decided to transition from normal sprites to layered images to combat the natural inflation following all the new outfits and poses. I had assumed it would be a quick and easy task, but on top of the time spent chopping and exporting everything, the sprites themselves required a lot of small fixing here and there. Transparency also does not work in layered images the way I imagined, so in the end, we will not be able to achieve full transition. But we will still be saving hundreds of MB, so it’s a good result!

Of course, re-exporting means … Moon has been at it again hahaha

It’s been 3 months, so it’s time to “touch-up” the sprites, which in Moon’s book means spending unreasonable amounts of time redrawing everything to look the same but better. I’ve learnt to trust this strange process, so let’s just sit tight and wait for the results ❤

I have to say, I saw a preview of “hot springs” Zan and “acting” Zan and … man, is he looking mighty fine  (//▽//)

I’m not supposed to show you since it’s still a WIP, but who am I kidding, I’m going to do it anyway
